Two horses died Thursday after they collided during a morning training session at the Del Mar racetrack in California.
It was the second day of the racing season, following a controversial past season that saw a high number of horses die at another California track.
A horse named Charge a Bunch turned around and ran straight into a horse named and Carson Valley. A veterinarian said that both horses suffered cervical fractures and died on the racetrack, according to NBC.
“There were three horses breaking from the starting gate,” Director of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Joe Harper said, according to NBC. “The horse made a U-turn, that was galloping.”

Helldivers 2 appears to have taken on some of the criticism aimed at its last Warband, Polar Patriots, thoroughly on-board—seeing as this new batch of armaments looks geared to add some more unique mechanics into the game.

A month ahead of launch, the developers of co-op shooter Helldivers 2 have dropped two pleasing bits of news on Steam. One, the PlayStation-published game will support crossplay at launch, meaning anyone on PC will be able to party up with pals on the PS5 to shoot bugs in cross platform harmony. Two, the PC specs are refreshingly modest, at least for playing at 60 fps.
The Helldivers team put together a helpful chart that I’ll embed below, but the key hardware asks are quite reasonable. For 1080p medium, Helldivers 2 recommends an Nvidia RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, which are four years old and two-and-a-half years old, respectively. Its recommended medium CPUs are also more than four years old. Stepping up to the 1440p “performance” tier bumps things up a bit, asking for an RTX 3070 / RX 6800 and a Core i5-12600K / Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Keen Games just delivered the community’s most-requested feature for co-op fantasy survival game Enshrouded: player-based quest progression has finally arrived in today’s update, meaning you won’t be shut out of quests just because other players on your server have already completed them. Hooray!

Revealed during today’s PC Gaming Show was a trailer for Hotel Galactic, a lovely looking upcoming crafting and management game about caring for an intergalactic rest stop.
I was immediately taken by its Studio Ghibli-inspired art style—which is a term that can get thrown around a little too widely, but seriously, look at it. The animated portion of its trailer has that hand-painted style with tons of hardworking animal creatures cooking delicious food, mopping the hotel floors, and tending to guests in the sauna. The Case of the Golden Idol, our favorite story of 2022 and my personal favorite detective game, will return with three more cases to solve in its expansion, The Spider of Lanka, on May 4. Master detective Chris Livingston sleuthed out the expansion last week, but now we have the full details.
The 18th century setting and off-kilter pixel art of The Case of the Golden Idol remain, but The Spider of Lanka’s story travels back one year before the original, decades-long murder mystery starts. Returning characters Albert Cloudsley and Oberon Geller are on a trip to the Kingdom of Lanka, a fictional location set in South Asia.
The Spider of Lanka will cover 50 years of “betrayal, greed, ambition, and death,” according to developer Color Gray Games. You’ll be tasked with combing through detailed scenes and playing murder Mad Libs with characters, objects, and text to piece together what happened and how it led to the strange events of the original story.
